Purple Basil or Red Rubin Basil is an Italian type leaves which grows up to 4" long on a compact of 2" plants. The frilly, ruffle leaves of Purple Basil are almost brown by comparison but taste and smell strongly of cloves and licorice.
As it grows in a compact manner, it is best to grow them in a container. You will love to see this gorgeous purple foliage, fragrantly grow well in a small pot.
Purple Basil can be easily grown from seeds. It has very good germinating rate. In a tropical climate, it grows well in afternoon sun and likely the same as other Basil - such as Sweet and Lemon.
